The ticket app is the organiser's side of the evening: how many are in, how many are left, and what has been sold since you last looked.
A ticket app is the application the organising team uses on a phone or tablet, as distinct from the shop the public sees. It typically shows live sales and capacity, lets you sell on the spot, and turns the same device into a scanner at the entrance.
What an organiser needs on the night
Two numbers, mostly: how many people are inside, and how many places are left. Everything else can wait until tomorrow. An app that leads with charts rather than those two figures is built for a head office rather than for a door.
The third need is a mobile box office. Somebody always turns up without a ticket, and the nearest desk is at the other end of the building. Being able to take that sale where you are standing is worth more than any report.
Why the phone is the right device
Volunteers already carry one, it is already charged, and they already know how it works. Handing someone a device they have never seen twenty minutes before doors is how gates get slow.
It also solves the permissions question in a practical way. Each helper uses their own phone with their own access, so nobody is passing around a single tablet that happens to be logged into everything.
The app in Passavo
The scanning app runs on the phone the team already has and shows how many of today's tickets have been scanned. Anyone with till rights can switch to selling on the spot in the same app, from the same time slots as the website.
The same app scans at the entrance, so a helper who was selling a minute ago can move to the gate without swapping devices. Rights are set per person, so scanning access does not come with everything else attached.

Common questions
Does everyone need their own login?
It is the better way to do it. Each person gets only the rights their job needs, and the record afterwards shows who sold or scanned what.
Does the app work on older phones?
It runs on an ordinary smartphone with a working camera, which covers the phones most volunteers are carrying. No special reader is needed.
