Creating your account

The wizard asks six short questions and recommends a plan on that basis. What it asks, why, and what happens to your answers.

Creating your account

The Get started button opens a six-step wizard. It asks questions about what you organise and then suggests a plan — with the reason next to it, and you are free to pick something else. Allow two minutes.

Already know exactly what you want? At the bottom of the wizard there is a link to the short registration form, where you fill everything in on one screen.

What you need beforehand

Not much, as it happens. Get this ready and you will be done in two minutes rather than twenty:

  • An email address you can get into. Use one belonging to the organisation (info@jouwvereniging.be) rather than one volunteer's private address: this becomes the address you sign in with.
  • The name of your organisation, as it is officially called.
  • An idea of what you sell and roughly how many paid tickets you expect per event. A rough estimate is enough.
  • If you are going straight for a paid plan, also your billing address and your VAT number if you have one.

What you do not need: a bank account number, card details, a website, or an account with a payment provider. That all comes later, and only when you actually need it.

The six steps

1. Who are you? Eight kinds of organisation plus "something else". Your choice settles nothing; it comes back in the explanation of our suggestion in step four.

2. What would you like to do? How often there is something on, whether you sell free or paid tickets, and how many paid tickets you expect per event. An estimate is enough: you can change plans at any time.

3. What do you need? Tick boxes for counter sales, time slots, several locations, your own domain, season passes and gift vouchers, selling through resellers, UiTPAS, the German till security, and removing our badge. Anything you leave out here you can still switch on later. If you tick time slots, counter sales or your own domain, an extra step for it appears on your checklist later.

4. Our suggestion. The recommended plan with one sentence of explanation per answer, and the other plans beside it. Click another card and that is the one you pick.

5. Your organisation. Name, country, the languages of your ticket shop and the email address where your visitors can reach you. If you picked a paid plan, we also ask for the billing address and optionally your VAT number. Not on the free plan: there is never an invoice there.

6. Your account. Your name, your email address and a password (twice), plus your agreement to the terms and conditions, the privacy statement and the data processing agreement. Those are three separate tick boxes, each with a link to the document — we keep the version you accept with your organisation.

How the suggestion comes about

There is no sales trick behind it. The wizard works out two things and takes whichever is higher:

  1. What it has to be able to do. Every tick box in step three belongs to a feature. The cheapest plan that covers everything you ticked is the floor.
  2. How much you sell. The free plan has a ceiling on paid tickets per event; Start has a yearly ceiling. Your estimate decides which plans stay under it.

Two rules people often trip over:

  • Free events are unlimited on every plan. If you only take free registrations, the free plan is enough — however often you open.
  • If you are open weekly or daily, that counts as one running product. The per-event ceiling then applies to a single counter that never restarts, and that is why you are offered a paid plan in that case.

If one single event does go over the free plan's ceiling, you do not need a subscription: you pay for that one event separately, for €19. You can do that twice per calendar year; from your third large event in the same year, a plan comes with it. See Your plan, your invoices and pausing.

What happens next

Your organisation, your user account, your roles and your subscription are created in one go. A free plan is active straight away; a paid plan starts as a trial and you arrange payment yourself later on your Subscription page. At no point does the wizard ask for card details.

Next, the screen asks you to confirm your email address. You get a confirmation email; click the link in it. Only then do you get into your back office, on your dashboard. The checklist there shows your next steps — tuned to what you ticked in step three. See First steps.

Your answers are kept while you are working: you can close the wizard and pick up later where you left off. Your password is never kept.

Common mistakes

Using one committee member's private address. In two years that person may be gone and nobody can get into the account any more. Use an address belonging to the organisation.

Ticking too much in step three. Every tick box pushes the suggestion up. Tick what you really are going to use this year; the rest you can still switch on later.

Not daring to estimate high enough in step two. Too low an estimate gives you a plan you will already have outgrown by March. An estimate is not a promise: you can change at any time.

Thinking the suggestion is a choice set in stone. You simply click another card. And even afterwards you can still change.

Not opening the confirmation email. Without a confirmed email address you cannot get into your back office.

What if …

What if I close the wizard halfway through?

Your answers are kept and you carry on where you left off. Your password is never kept along with them.

What if I do not know which sector I am?

Pick "something else". It settles nothing and does not change the questions that follow.

What if I already have an account?

Then you simply sign in. An email address that already has an account cannot be used a second time in the wizard. If you need a second organisation under the same account, ask us; see Organisation and venue.

What if I picked a paid plan but do not want to pay yet?

A paid plan starts as a trial and you arrange payment yourself later on the Subscription page. The wizard never asks for card details. If you do not want a paid plan at all, go back in the wizard and pick the free one.

What if the confirmation email does not arrive?

Look in your junk mail. If it is not there, click Resend it on the confirmation screen, under "Not received the email we sent?". If that still does not work, write to us.

Frequently asked questions

Does creating an account cost anything? No. The free plan is permanent and no card is involved.

Do I have to be a non-profit or a business? Not to create an account. To receive money online, most payment providers do need a company registration number. See What is a payment provider?

Can I change plans later? Yes, at any time, in both directions. See Your plan, your invoices and pausing.

What exactly am I signing up to with those three tick boxes? The terms and conditions, the privacy statement and the data processing agreement. What each of those three does is set out in Privacy and terms. The version you accept is kept with your organisation.

What happens to my answers from the wizard? They decide your suggestion and the extra steps on the checklist of your dashboard. They settle nothing. What you filled in at step five — name, country, languages, contact address — you change later under Settings → Organisation.
